The name of the APIs are mentioned in two places
1) In the JDE BSFN Object ( Mapping to the Template DataStructure)
2) In the c source file.

Scenario 1: If this error is seen in the client's JDE.log itself
Make sure the name of the API given in 1) and 2) are same.
In my case, the name given in BSFN Object(GUI) is GetFileFromPathMatchingWildcard
But the name given in the BSFN .c file is GetFileFromPathMatchingWildcardXXX().Due to this the CCUSTOM dll is not updated with the name given in the JDE object.

Scenario 2: Working in FAT client, but not on Enterprise Server
The BSFN is not properly deployed on the Server

Frauds?
Some of the frauds that can happen with checks are
1) Changing the amount the on the check
2) Counterfeiting the checks

Positive Pay/Enhanced Positive PayIt is a mechanism that requires companies to send a text file with the list of checks issued to the bank
This flat file contain information like
1) Payee Name
2) Check Date
3) Check Amount etc.

So when the Payee takes check to the bank, bank person will match the check with the information in the flat file before releasing the funds.If any mismatch is found, an exception is raised and sent to the Company...

JDE : Export the output data in Excel format

The default output of a report in JDE is PDF file.The report can be designed to generate csv ( along with PDF) as well. But at times an excel file is required instead of csv.

Here is the way
1) Write the Data to a abc.txt file using one of the BSFN APIs.The fields/columns have to separated by TAB.
2) Now after writing all the data, rename the file to abc.xls
3) Here comes the catch, JDE tool set does not allow to type TAB character.So you can open notepad, press TAB key, copy it and paste in JDE. :)

If you see the above message and the output is supposed to be present,check the 'Suppress All Output' flag under File->Report Properties option.Make sure it is not cheked.

You can also find the following message in the log : --UBE--[1]-- Output is disabled. No PDF file will be created for this report.

I was developing few cheque/check(BoA and BoM) printing applications in JDE.I came across the gnuMICR font from the website : http://sandeen.net/GnuMICR/ and used it for writing the micr line in the check/cheque.
The micr line passed both the bank tests.

Displaying images on Reports in JDE

Does E1 support embedding images on reports? We're not asking about BI pubilisher
JDE does not support embedding images directly on the report.The alternate way is to create a custom font using font creation tools and add that image to a report constant in RDA.
Steps at a high level

Create a new font(Itzlogo) and associate the image to one of the character, say B
Save the font and install it to the windows\fonts folder
Now open RDA and add Insert report constant at the place where you wish to have the image/logo/ signature.
In the Variable Name enter the value say 'B'.Navigate to Font/Color tab.. choose the itzlogo font and click ok.
The image will appear on the design aid....... Run the report to see the image now.

Some of types of images that are added to the reports: Company logos, special symbols,Signatures ..etc

Report templates are master specifications of the report. It defines the data used, how the data is

Batch versions read the master specifications from the associated report template and over ride one or more specification of the report template like:

• Section database output
• Section sort sequence
This concept allows creating requirement specific reports (versions) without touching the Master (i.e Report Template). Basically you create one report template and create multiple version by overriding the specifications.

We faced this issue on jdeveloper10g version[not in Jdeveloper11g]

1. jdeveloper10 already had saaj-api.jar under C:\JDeveloper\webservices\lib directory
This doesn't contain setFaultCode(javax/xml/namespace/QName qname) argument.
It just had setFaultCode(String s) method

2. From my application I supplied javax.xml.soap_1.3.1.0.jar which contains the method with QName argument.But as jvm already loaded saaj-api.jar ahead of the application supplied one, it is complaining 'java.lang.NoSuchMethodError' exception.

3. jdeve11g doesn't have this saaj-api.jar in wbservices\lib folder.So it worked.
To resolve the issue for time being, I deleted the saaj-api.jar from the webservices\lib directory to resolve the issue.We have to find the acceptable way....

The query timeout period expires before the data source returns the result set. The timeout period is set through SQLSetStmtOption : SQL_ATTR_QUERY_TIMEOUT.

For example, if the query timeout is set to 2 seconds, the query execution is canceled at the end of 2 seconds[i.e if execution takes more than 2 seconds]

Setting the timeout to 0 secs is not recommended, as it will wait forever to get the result set.

The above error will generally occur when the 'server authentiction' is set to "Windows Authentication mode'.This means one can login to Sql Server with Windows NT authentication using the network login ID only and not using a logID and password entered by the user.
But the above error can occur even when the 'server authentiction' set to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode".One possibilty is when database user is null/empty.
I intentionally passed null(\0) in userID and got the above error in the ODBC trace log.

Resolving ORA-00845: MEMORY_TARGET not supported on this system

This error occurred when we tried to start Oracle 11g database.First time database came up without any issues.But when we tried to startup the database after few database, the above issue is thrown.

ORA-00845: MEMORY_TARGET not supported on this system

The above error will normally be thrown when the available memory in /dev/shm or tmpfs is not sufficient. If the above screenshot is observed, available memory for /dev/shm is 1.2G.

Run the command df -h to get the above information.

Now to find the value to which /dev/shm [tmpfs] size has to be increased, open the oracle alert log.

The above information in alert.log mentions the size to be 1.49GB.

Considering this 1.49GB requirement, we set the new size to 3GB in /etc/fstab file.As shown in the picture below, replace defaults with the required size.i.e size=xxxx

Reboot the machine now.

Run df -h to see the changes

Now try to startup database again....

Platform Pack Installation Error

This will normally happen on Unix/Linux flavors while trying to establish a connection to oracle database.
This can happen if ORACLE_HOME environment variable is not/properly set for oracle user.
After setting the ORACLE_HOME in .bash_profile[for bash] of oracle user [/home/oracle/.bash_profile], issue is resolved.

We faced this issue while connecting to Oracle database Release 10.1.0.5.0 from a Java program [via JDBC]. No probs with the OCI connection, sqlplus is fine.

The server principal "domain\windows user" is not able to access the database "DATABSE" under the current security context.
This will normally happen when ODBC Datsource in the ODBCAD32 is configured to use "With Integrated Windows Authentication" mode of authentication to the sql server.
The reason being that the domain\windows user is not added in the list of logins under the security tab of the sql server.
So the solution is to change the authentication type to "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user".
Sometimes you cannot change the authentication from former to latter,especially when you login as a non-admin user.In this case you need to login with admin user and change the authentication type.

If a 32 application, running on a 64 bit application is trying to connect to sql server, then the data source should be created in the ODBCAD32.exe under[C:\Windows\SysWOW64\].

Sometimes FAT Client installation might fail at the end while creating environment variables or creating ODBC datasources etc.The best way to start troubleshooting the issue is by looking at the jdeinst.log/jdeinst.html in the c: directory.
If you notice that most of the stuff like database,specs, system folders are copied to your windows box and just environment variables,ODBC datasources are not set, you can give a try with the following command.
1] Win+R -> CMD
2] Navigate to directory where the install Manager setup.exe resides.
3] Now run the following command.
setup.exe -N -P DEMO -D E:\E900 -T Typical
DEMO is the PATHCODE.
E:\E900 is the location where we installed the Standalone E1/FAT.

Highlight the desired object [If you are trying to restore a non – existent object, just create a dummy object by that name] and click restore.

Press OK

Usage:

You might have developed an application in one FAT client and want to transfer it to a different FAT machine

Use DATALENGTH api is sqlserver to find the number of bytes taken by a value/data.It is useful with the variable length datatypes like : varchar,varbinary,image,text,nvarchar,ntext...

jdbodbc.dll is used to connect to both sql server 2000/2005.But in case of Oracle you have different wrapper oci dlls. viz jdboci90.dll,jdbodci101.dll,jdboci111.dll etc., So the question now is, which wrapper will be used at runtime?
The system will determine the OCI client installed on the FAT/Enterprise Server machine and accordingly load the respective wrapper.For example if Oracle 10 client is installed on your FAT client, jdboci101.dll will be used.

From the call stack it looks like jdbc driver is trying to map instanceName to Port number.
The port allocated to MSDE server may change when you restart the machine.This may happen when the port is already alloted to someone else.So system will allot a port dynamically.To identify the port on which MSDE is listening, jdbc driver will send a message with ServerName,Instance as input.As a response,it sends the port on which MSDE is listening.
Sometimes this process might fail.This can be due to timeout or something else.

We are trying to findout out exact approach to solve this problem.If you guys know solution, please do comment.

This is commonly caused..........or recompiling business functions that use the data dictionary item."
and/or
"Your JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system has experienced a fatal system error and is unstable.Please exit EnterpriseOne....", this means a severe exception happened and it had been caught/absorbed by the system.
Sometimes you might want the crash to happen to troubleshoot/identify the cause of the exception/violation.i.e if the system crash you can collect the crash dump and send it to developers for analyzing it.
If you do not want the system to absorb the exceptions, set the following flag in JDE.ini
[INTERACTIVE RUNTIME]
EXCEPTION_Enabled=False

F9500003/4/6 table generated in a Julian DataSource

The Security history table, F9312 stores various events like Add user,Password change,Add F00950 record,data item type change,auditing turned on etc.To check the complete list[27] of events that are monitored, do a select on the UDC[98,ET].
P98OWSEC application is used to view the F9312 table.
Open P98OWSEC application --- Form --- Security History. This will open the Work with Security history application.Do a find now.
Note that this will just track the events listed in the 98,ET.It is limited to a set of tables [F0092, F92*, F00950, F9500001,F95921 etc.,].If you want to monitor the changes made to a desired table[say F0101],you need to set up 21 CFR 11 auditing and enable tables for auditing.P9500005 application is used to view the changes made on those tables.

Here is a simple process to know the current time in a particular place.

1] If you know the time zone under which the place falls, use this process.Suppose you would like to know the current time of a place in Central Standard Time [CST]
Double click the clock on the task bar.
Go to timezone tab and change the time zone to CST.
Now just click apply [Need not click ok] and observe the time on the task bar.Later you can switch back to your old timezone.

Multiple E1 users will be mapped to one or more system users.This system user is what that speaks to database.Fat Client and JAS server get the system user from enterprise Server.Enterprise server obtains it from F98OWSEC table.but how does Enterprise Server connects to F98owsec table for the first time?

It takes the user/password information specified under the [SECURITY] section of jde.ini.So make sure Enterprise Server's JDE.ini file is not accessible to the end users.

What if the SecurityServer under [SECURITY] for FAT client is left blank?

This means you are not pointing to any Security Server.Means you will not get any system user.So the EnterpriseOne user/pwd entered in the login screen will be used to connect to the database...

Most of you should be aware by now that the Knowlwedge Garden/Customer Partner connection is dead and metalink3 aka My Oracle Support is in place know.Most of the customers/parners/employees will be confused with the new interface and it will take some time to get to used to this.
But after using it for few days, I would say it is better organised[into tabs] and more informative.
For example the Update Center is embedded under the tab "Patches and Downloads".If you want to download the latest version of the JD Edwards Support Assistant, follow the steps
1.Sign in to metalink3
2.Click "Patches and Downloads" tab.
3.In the Update center application's search pane,set
type to "JD Edwards Support Assistant"
Release to "All" and do a Search.In the left side pane you will see the latest version of the Support assistant.Add this to download basket and download the SA.

sqlserver 2005 jdbc driver : sqljdbc.jar[com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver]
sqlserver 2000 jdbc drivers: msbase,jar,msutil.jar,mssqlserver.jar [com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver]
So give a try with the sqlserver 2005 jdbc driver.
In Jas server's JDBJ.ini file set 'SQLSERVER=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver' under [JDBj-JDBC DRIVERS]

Here is the way to attach and detach databases from a sql query analyzer.This will come in handy when you do not have the Enterprise Manager console installed in your computer
