Analysis

The environment specified in the JDBj.ini is 'DV910'.

So, based on the DEFAULT OCM mappings for BSFN, LOCAL data source has been picked up and the subsequent logic expected entries for 'LOCAL' machine in F9651/F96511 tables

[JDBj-BOOTSTRAP SESSION]

environment=DV910

As there will not be any packages (type 31 record) for LOCAL machine, connectivity to JDE failed

Solution

Now, the environment in the JDBj.ini is changed to JDV910 and connection is successful

[JDBj-BOOTSTRAP SESSION]

environment=JDV910

If you come across this issue with JDV910 as well, perform a full package build and try again

Multiple Data Centers
Companies usually operate two or more geographically separate data centers (primary data center and secondary data center) to make sure business continues as usual in the event of a disaster at one of the data centers. In addition to traditional backups, real-time data from primary data center will be constantly replicated to the secondary data center.
In the event of a disaster, the infrastructure at the secondary data center is enabled to run the business.

Disaster Recovery Plan
Disaster recovery plan (DRP) is a documented process or set of procedures to recover and protect a business IT infrastructure in the event of a disaster. Organizations conduct regular (usually annual) drills to
1) Ensure DRP is current and valid
2) Understand the time taken for recovery and switching back to primary data center (assuming Primary data center has returned to normalcy)

3) Understand the resources required to implement the plan
4) Ensure all team members fully understand their duties is implementing the plan

Questions for discussion (considering JD Edwards environments)
1) Is my DRP complete by including just the production database as part of the replication from primary to secondary data center?
2) Is it required to include Central objects databases of all the non-production environments as part of the DRP?

Please share your experiences

Issue
Table level event rules implemented on the table F0006 is not working as expected when DML operations are initiated from web server.

Observation
Table triggers initiated from Batch/Enterprise/FAT client/Web development clients work properly. After troubleshooting the logs, we have concluded that COK didn't get the request from JAS

Fix
1) MOS says this is a known issue with auto generation of serialized specifications and been fixed in the TR 9.1.4.4.So upgrade to tools release 9.1.4.4
2) As a work around, generate the serialize specifications for the tables manually
Check fraud is one of the common payment frauds. In order to avoid this, ERP softwares usually go for Positive Pay file.

Frauds?
Some of the frauds that can happen with checks are
1) Changing the amount the on the check
2) Counterfeiting the checks

Positive Pay/Enhanced Positive PayIt is a mechanism that requires companies to send a text file with the list of checks issued to the bank
This flat file contain information like
1) Payee Name
2) Check Date
3) Check Amount etc.

So when the Payee takes check to the bank, bank person will match the check with the information in the flat file before releasing the funds. If any mismatch is found, an exception is raised and sent to the Company...

The default output of a report in JDE is PDF file. The report can be designed to generate csv ( along with PDF) as well. But at times an excel file is required instead of csv.

Here is the way
1) Write the Data to a abc.txt file using one of the BSFN APIs.The fields/columns have to separated by TAB.
2) Now after writing all the data, rename the file to abc.xls
3) Here comes the catch, JDE tool set does not allow to type TAB character. So you can open notepad, press TAB key, copy it and paste in JDE. :)

The serialized Specs generated by the Generator were inserted in to F989999 in Data Source A. But JAS server is looking into F989999 from a Data Source B.
So make sure both Generator and HTML Server are looking into the same Data Source

I was developing few cheque/check(BoA and BoM) printing applications in JDE.I came across the gnuMICR font from the website : http://sandeen.net/GnuMICR/ and used it for writing the micr line in the check/cheque.
The micr line passed both the bank tests.

Incase you are developing any MICR E-13B based check reports in JDE, see if this font meets your requirement.
Speak to the developer/author of the Font : Mr Eric Sandeen.(Email id is available in the web page) for the TnC of usage and more information

Note: This font may or maynot solve your purpose.Just give a try

Little More

MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. It is a technology that allows computers to read information printed on checks

Unlike Barcode information,MICR information is human readable.

Popular MICR font standards are E-13B and CMC-7

E-13B is used for cheque printing in US,Canada,UK,Australia,African Countries,India,China etc.,

CMC-7 is used in France,Israel, most of the South American countries etc.,

E-13B Character set contains 10 numerals(0-9) and 4 control characters.

CMC-7 contains 10 numerals and 5 control characters

We're not asking about BI pubilisher
JDE does not support embedding images directly on the report. The alternate way is to create a custom font using font creation tools and add that image to a report constant in RDA.
Steps at a high level

Create a new font(Itzlogo) and associate the image to one of the character, say B

Save the font and install it to the windows\fonts folder

Now open RDA and add Insert report constant at the place where you wish to have the image/logo/ signature.

In the Variable Name enter the value say 'B'.Navigate to Font/Color tab.. choose the itzlogo font and click ok.

The image will appear on the design aid....... Run the report to see the image now.

Some of types of images that are added to the reports: Company logos, special symbols,Signatures ..etc
Report templates are master specifications of the report. It defines the data used, how the data is
Selected , sorted, displayed, and formatted etc.
Batch versions read the master specifications from the associated report template and over ride one or more specification of the report template like:
• Section layout
• Section data selection
• Section event rules
• Section database output
• Section sort sequence
This concept allows creating requirement specific reports (versions) without touching the Master (i.e Report Template). Basically you create one report template and create multiple version by overriding the specifications.
Report Power points:
· Report template is a Master specification

JDBTRG2 Tables F2* up through (Not including) F4*

JDBTRG3 Tables F5* up through (Not including) F8*

JDBTRG4 Tables F9* and greater, including FA, etc.,

Enable trace flags 1204/1205 for more information about deadlocks.Refer this page for the list of trace flags available in SqlServer 2008

Example to turn on trace flag 1204
DBCC TRACEON (1204,-1)

To see the status of various trace flags and their scope
DBCC TRACESTATUS

Example to turn on trace flag 1204
DBCC TRACEOFF (1204,-1)

In the above example '-1' is to set the scope of trace flag globally

Now if the dead lock occurs details about the resources, queries invlolved in the lock will be recorded in the sql server Error Log.

We faced this issue on jdeveloper10g version[not in Jdeveloper11g]

1. jdeveloper10 already had saaj-api.jar under C:\JDeveloper\webservices\lib directory
This doesn't contain setFaultCode(javax/xml/namespace/QName qname) argument.
It just had setFaultCode(String s) method

2. From my application I supplied javax.xml.soap_1.3.1.0.jar which contains the method with QName argument. But as jvm already loaded saaj-api.jar ahead of the application supplied one, it is complaining 'java.lang.NoSuchMethodError' exception.

3. jdeve11g doesn't have this saaj-api.jar in wbservices\lib folder.So it worked.
To resolve the issue for time being, I deleted the saaj-api.jar from the webservices\lib directory to resolve the issue. We have to find the acceptable way....
The timeout period is set through SQLSetStmtOption : SQL_ATTR_QUERY_TIMEOUT.

For example, if the query timeout is set to 2 seconds, the query execution is canceled at the end of 2 seconds[i.e if execution takes more than 2 seconds]

Setting the timeout to 0 secs is not recommended, as it will wait forever to get the result set.
Note: I'm using embedded weblogic server [Jdeveloper 11g].

Solution[Possible]:
1.Launch the weblogic admin console application : http://127.0.0.1:7101/console.
If you are running this for the first time,it will take some time.
2. Default user id/password are weblogic/weblogic1.
3.Once you login, click 'activate changes'.
4. Try to deploy your application now. The above error will generally occur when the 'server authentiction' is set to "Windows Authentication mode'.This means one can login to Sql Server with Windows NT authentication using the network login ID only and not using a logID and password entered by the user.
But the above error can occur even when the 'server authentiction' set to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode".One possibilty is when database user is null/empty.
I intentionally passed null(\0) in userID and got the above error in the ODBC trace log.
