Prior to 9.0, ESUs are shipped in MSDE databases.From 9.0 onwards they available as xml repositories.
3.Can a Deployment Server be set up on a Non-Windows Machine?
No.
Deployment server and FAT client are basically GUI[Win32] based applications.So they are windows only applications.
